MEET Karen

After spending 30+ years in corporate accounting and finance, I have shifted into the role of an aspiring literary citizen that wants to illuminate writers, entrepreneurs, and your average human that are doing amazing things.

I’m currently working on my debut novel that I’m referring to as SBNH. This is an acronym for my original title. My characters keep changing their minds and behavior, and the title is flexing along with them, so for the interim, we’re going with code name SBNH.

I started sketching the manuscript in the fall of 2024. I hope to have a rough draft completed later this year. I love my characters; they lead interesting and complex lives. I can’t wait for you to meet them.

I’m having the time of my life immersed in this new creative pursuit. In addition to SBNH, I also have another novel manuscript that I started several years ago but tabled it since my work hours at the time averaged 50+ week and I was incredibly burned out. It is a dual-timeline contemporary women’s fiction project.

My husband & I live on a farm where our animals boss us around and we are better people for it. I love to volunteer to read wherever I can, sometimes it's in a stall, sometimes it's in a church, and sometimes in a studio narrating for visually impaired readers. Oh, and I enjoy making up new words, it's one of my whimsical superpowers.

This website and my writing projects were born out of appreciation and gratitude to creatively share the beauty in everyday things. I figure, rather than being critical, let’s talk about the positive & magical things happening in the world.

What’s in it for you? Great question! In my blog you may find humor, your next favorite book, movie, product, or a travel destination…depending on where my imagination happens to transport us.

You’ll find updates on my writing projects and my process; I’m happy to share shortcuts and anything to make our lives easier. Feel free to connect with me, relationships are everything.

Xoxo!
