Press Release – Fictional Piper Rose Art Gallery
KRR Note 1: this example of a press release is purely fictional; I made up the name of the gallery, the staff, the contact information, and other details. I had so much fun developing the concept and the content. Regarding the fictional Art Connection journal: this is actually a product that I would love to work on, to build a relationship between a creative entity and the public, emboldening individuals with awareness of opportunities, perhaps encouraging individuals to become involved in the arts or a creative endeavor while learning and building a bridge of engagement.
KRR Note 2: I am grateful for my well-worn copy of The Chicago Manual of Style. When not used as a desk reference, it alternates as a booster seat and quasi-stepladder (it’s quite thick, heavy-duty, and over 1100 pages). Actually, I would never step on my reference copy. That would be so wrong on so many levels.
KRR Note 3: My husband had to finally drag me out of my home office. I was having so much fun on this creative writing project, I lost track of time. I had just named the podcast and was giddy in the afterglow of my wry humor. My imaginary podcast name pays homage to my extensive excel usage.
KRR Note 4: I’m new to WordPress; I’m working on adding more white space in the press release below to make it easier on the eyes.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
The Rose Piper Gallery Launches Innovative Online Publication: The Art Connection
Baltimore, MD – The Rose Piper Gallery is delighted to announce the launch of its new publication, The Art Connection on May 1, 2024.
The monthly journal will have an informal voice, connecting everyday art with everyday people; creating an innovative space where individuals of all backgrounds can be touched by art. The Art Connection will provide information on the experiential programs, events, contests, and publishing opportunities that are scheduled.
Note: The Rose Piper Gallery Portfolio, the second oldest art gallery journal in the United States will continue to circulate on a quarterly basis, disseminating academic knowledge about the gallery’s collections and expanding the narrative on global culture.
The Art Connection journal will serve an audience of more than a half-million individuals annually, in Baltimore and worldwide, setting the gallery up as a cultural destination for schools, community living environments, and other diverse demographics to appreciate art, participate in workshops, and gain real world experience.
“We are very excited about The Art Connection,” says June Hightower, executive director of the gallery. “Our marketing team will begin the first phase of our community outreach project by partnering with local schools. The gallery had unprecedented success last year with our Back to School, Back to the Drawing Board program in which middle school and high school teachers nominated students to participate in our mixed media workshops. In our pursuit to continuously innovate, our marketing team is designing a program where school children of all ages will be able to contribute to The Art Connection, by authoring short stories or poems prompted by art in the Rose Piper Gallery. We are thrilled to support our next generation of creative journalists.”
The second phase of the project will feature image submissions of artwork from readership; select pieces will be published in the journal with a short bio of the artist.
To honor our commitment of having all voices heard and creativity seen, there will be guest opportunities for both children and adults to co-host our Webby award-winning Columns and Rose podcast.
In the spring of 2025, the Rose Piper Gallery is planning to recognize outstanding contributions to the journal at a gala, which will include a juried art show and auction.
“The gallery is always introducing innovative and engaging programs. The Art Connection is no exception. It will amplify the creativity in children and adults, providing opportunities for children to become teachers, which in turn builds confidence and leadership skills”, Linda Reinhardt, chief marketing officer for the Rose Piper Gallery proudly stated. “The Art Connection represents our community and much of the content will be contributed by our community.
“Several of my students have a desire to be published, The Art Connection could be that platform of recognition for them”, says Ronald Stanley, PhD, social studies chair of a local high school.
