My Debut Novel - Left to Conjecture
I started compiling ideas for my character-driven novel in the fall of 2024.
I always kept an idea book with me; I jotted down scenes, themes, and quirky stuff.
I started the business of writing my novel in the summer of 2025.
By June 28th, I had 37 pages written.
By August 31, 2025, I had 381 pages completed.
In October, I moved to Scotland. My writing was a bit disrupted.
Left to Conjecture is set in a fictional town in the Baltimore, Maryland area.
In the fabulous style of Anne Tyler, I mention local restaurants, parks, places to meet up with friends.
I call my genre edi-fi: edifying fiction. My book is contemporary women's fiction, perfect for book clubs.
Some of my characters have been named after people...one of the antagonists is named after a teacher that was mean to my sister when she was in high school. It's a New-Agey cathartic concept. I just made it up.
My novel is a heartwarming, emotionally layered story about the complexities of modern family, the messiness of belonging, and the healing power of female friendships. It reminds readers that having a healthy helping of books, relationships, humor, and favorite snacks help handle life's daily setbacks.
